Idle No More Movement
Aanii...Kia ora, Warm Greetings
Recently there have been a number of activities across Canada and in various parts of the world supporting the movement of Idle No More. This movement is set up by Aboriginal/First Nations peoples of Canada to demonstrate their concerns for a Bill that the Canadian Government are rushing through that impinges on their lands, water and their treaty rights. For example, Idle No More has laid out its objections to a specific piece of legislation, Bill C-45, the federal government's huge budget implementation law that made changes to the Indian Act, Navigation Protection Act and Environmental Assessment Act.
The Idle No More Movement are demonstrating in a number of activities as their way to create or force a meeting with Stephen Harper the Prime Minister to listen to the concerns raised by First Nations peoples about the proposed Bill. Importantly the new Bill ultimately affects all Canadians with respect to water, land, mineral and resource exploitation.
